Legal Sense (Pty) Limited was established in 2006 and is the only company in South Africa that specialises in providing commercial legal expenses insurance services to small and medium sized companies. With ever-changing regulatory legislation and the introduction of the pivotal National Credit Act and the Consumer Protection Act, businesses are exposed to a great extent and this exposure seems to be increasing as our country and economy develops.
Although commercial legal expenses insurance is a rather new concept in the South African insurance market, this type of cover is common-place in the UK, USA and Europe. It is, however, important to always recognise that we live in a very diverse country with plenty of challenges. Legal Sense has therefore developed an insurance product to cater for and support South African businesses specifically. So, instead of merely providing a policyholder insurance cover in the event of litigation, Legal Sense also mitigate a policyholder’s risk by offering a proactive legal service component.
Proactive legal services include the drafting of all business contracts, assistance with labour issues, the chairing of disciplinary hearings, the collection of outstanding debt and legal advice and assistance on all business-related matters and disputes. By assisting our policyholders proactively, the risk of potential litigation gets reduced significantly.

Legal Sense was built on the foundation of service excellence, ethical work practices and respect for our clients, colleagues, service providers, the environment and all external stakeholders. We are very proud of our establishment and our company culture.
Legal Sense currently has three offices situated in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria respectively, but we serve policyholders from all over the country. Thanks to well developed information technology networks, we are not geographically tied to a specific region where service is concerned and it makes us accessible to clients throughout South Africa.
